The Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC) announces the approval of its national component, supported by €3.63 million in public funding by the Ministry of Development, marking a decisive milestone towards implementation of a Greek national policy for semiconductors and advanced microelectronics.
The decision, signed by the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos, formally activates the national pillar of the HCCC within the Operational Programme “Competitiveness 2021–2027”. This approval reflects the Ministry of Development’s strategic commitment to strengthening Greece’s production model through targeted investments in emerging and critical technologies, positioning semiconductors at the core of the country’s industrial and technological transformation.

Implemented through a structured national partnership, the consortium includes top Greek research institutes, universities and scientific institutions and is coordinated by the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA). Through the coordination of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre, HETiA contributes to the systematic strengthening of national technological capacity and to Greece’s long-term positioning within the European semiconductor value chain.
HCCC is designed to function as a central competence hub for semiconductor technologies, promoting technology transfer, facilitating access to advanced infrastructures, delivering specialized training and upskilling programmes, supporting startups, SMEs, and industrial stakeholders across the semiconductor value chain.
The approval of the national component constitutes a key step in the development of Greece’s National Semiconductor Strategy and reinforces the country’s alignment with European priorities under the EU Chips Act, as actively supported by the Ministry of Development.
Through the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre, Greece strengthens its national innovation capacity and consolidates its role within the European semiconductor ecosystem, building a sustainable foundation for long-term technological competitiveness.
